Arizona short blogs (October - December 2013)

Our day trip today is taking us to Jerome for the evening Art Walk. On the way however we stop multiple times to take short hikes into the beautiful countryside. We find a few deserted dirt roads that wind through the landscape and we hike on them for a while to enjoy the views. Finally we decide that it is time to drive to Jerome only about 20 miles away from our location and promptly our tire pressure indicator is lighting up - we stop and check it and the pressure is dangerously low so we fill it up and face the decision whether to go home or continue. In the end we decide to go to Jerome as long as the deflation is not happening too fast - and it doesn't.

When we get in Jerome it is dusk already and there are nice views from the overlooks of the valley and the mine. There are a lot of people wandering around from art gallery to art gallery and we follow them entering quite a few of them. Jerome is an old mining town that almost became a ghost town in 1970 before artists started to move in and now it almost is a boomtown again with restaurants, shops and even a hotel. We buy a few things and decide we will think about other more expensive ones at home and return to buy them another time. It is a nice walk but it is getting close to 10 PM and everything is starting to close so we take the hint and return to the car and drive back to Phoenix stopping a few times on the way to refill the tires to ensure we do not have any issues on the highway.
